Seeking advice: Wix stolen my .com domain

I transferred .com domain to wix from another domain registrar, paid for transfer and additional year of domain from my bank card, they blocked account, requested passport and bank card photo via email, and after I provided them document (same legal name of admin of domain) and bank card photo they rejected to reactivate account, so I don't have access to my domain anymore and can't withdraw it to another registrar.

Their final reply:

"Hi there, Thank you for reaching back out.

_As mentioned by my colleague, regrettably we are unable to restore the account or provide access to the domain in this case._

At this time, we would advise reaching out to ICANN directly or continuing communication with ICANN in order to retrieve the domain. With this being said, I would recommend gathering your proof of ownership for the domain. This would include your registration/transfer records and any related correspondence.

I understand this is not the outcome you expected and I apologize on behalf of any frustrations or inconveniences this may cause.

Thank you for your patience during this process. If you happen to have any additional questions or concerns please don't hesitate to reach back out.

Best Regards,

Olivia | Wix Customer Care"

Use https://icann-nsp.my.site.com/compliance/s/transfer alongside with any supporting documents you have like the wix rep said. I could imagine you need the transfer record if you have one; invoices could also help.

I submitted complaint to ICANN 2 weeks ago and they haven't replied back.

if you used the appropriate channels, be more of a karen perhaps and don't just sit and wait for a reply indefinitely. they have response times to try to adhere to. if its busy it can take longer but if they overshoot those times u can always remind them of your pending requests.

I made few more submissions afterwards and notified about that issue Ombuds Office.

It really sucks that every web hosting company is greedily trying to trick people into transferring their domains, usually by implying that you can't use your domain with them unless you transfer it. Scumbags, the lot of them.

If only marketing, they literally stole my domain.

I looked at Wix when they were new.

My first thought was "this is a captive portal that will never let you have your website back without first slaying a multi-headed hydra."

Good luck.

Thanks, mate.

The most funny thing is they requested sensitive documents via email pipeline and not via proper onsite kyc behind tls. And after providing them photo they refused to release domain and told me to request help from ICANN. I guess that's how they do business in Israel.

I would say they are likely experiencing an overwhelming feeling of panic right now, similar to how AOL felt when the internet was opened to the public.

Not only can AI make a website for you, it can also configure the hosting for you.

And in 5 minutes when that task is done, you can tell it to create a company like Wix.

You're dealing with their desperation at this point.
