At the company where I work as a SWE, management has set a new rule: each developer is now expected to deliver 50% more code because I am using AI.

Tokenmaxxing for the win! Where tokens == Lines of code.

Yeah, that was proven to be complete and total garbage over a decade ago. But even Amazon was stupid enough to try and bring it back, right before the shift to actual AI tokenmaxxing that they tried. And which was also proven to be complete and total garbage.

The only thing that really works is to tie whatever system improvement you want to promote, against actual real improved measurable business outcomes.

If you’ve want to see if AI can actually help you do your coding better/easier/faster, then you have to see if you can turn that into something that the end users can see as an actual improvement, and how this helps your bottom line.

But only about 3% of all companies can say that with regards to AI. And wouldn’t you know it, they all happen to be hyperscalars who are selling AI tokens to their customers.

Fortunately for me, I was able to engineer my exit from AWS before they actually implemented the LOC requirement, which was then quickly replaced by the actual tokenmaxxing, which was then proven to be an absolute sh*tshow.
