I can't wait to see what kinds of horrific AI-assisted surveillance these organizations end up getting access to. The only saving grace of these sorts of post-patriot-act police state surveillance systems was that they still had to be driven by a human. Imagine this stuff combined with an "agentic" workflow where the "human in the loop" is the dumbest and most aggressive personality imaginable working for the US Gestapo

100% untrue (at least for some Americans in some parts of the USA). We had fairly solid privacy for the most part in small-town North-western Montana when I was a child. People who had it expected it and were pissed when it got violated (and the violators were generally ostracised in some way or other).
I'm quite sure that none of us have any more privacy than we actively create (and fight for) for ourselves today however, and even what little of that which remains is a tiny shred of what many of us once had.
